What is irrigation?

Ear irrigation involves gently flushing the ear canal with warm,  water at a controlled pressure to dislodge and remove ear wax. This method is suitable for certain types of wax and ear conditions, and our nurse will determine its suitability during your consultation.

How do you choose the right treatment method for me?

During your appointment, our nurse will conduct a thorough examination of your ears using an otoscope. Based on the type, amount, and consistency of the wax, as well as your medical history and ear health, we will recommend and discuss the most suitable and safest removal method for you (microsuction or irrigation).

What is the process from booking to aftercare?

Once you've booked your appointment, you'll receive an immediate confirmation text and email. This email will also include a consultation and consent form, which we ask you to complete prior to your scheduled visit. Upon arrival, our nurse will review your completed forms and ask any further necessary questions. Each ear will then be carefully examined with an otoscope. If no wax is found, we will discuss potential causes of your symptoms and advise on possible treatments or next steps. If wax is present, the appropriate treatment option (microsuction or irrigation) will be performed to safely remove it. Following the procedure, verbal aftercare advice will be given, and you'll receive a follow-up email with detailed written aftercare instructions and a convenient link to leave a review of our service. Payment is taken only after the treatment is successfully completed and is charged accordingly.

When should I not use your service, or what if no wax is found?

There are certain medical conditions or ear problems that might make ear wax removal unsuitable or require a referral to a specialist. During your consultation, we'll discuss your medical history to ensure our service is appropriate for you. If, during your appointment, no ear wax is found to be causing your symptoms, our nurse will provide advice on possible alternative causes and suggest appropriate actions, which may include recommending a visit to your GP or another specialist. You will only be charged a consultation fee in this instance.
